I dreamed of overwater bungalows in places like the Maldives but dreaded the long flight there. Lee, a Category 3 hurricane on Tuesday morning, was centered about 575 miles south of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 115 mph, the National Hurricane Center said. A larger Hurricane Lee, then, is more likely to affect the Eastern Seaboard – even if not through a direct landfall. Those tropical storm-force winds could extend over 300 miles from Lee’s center later this week, National Hurricane Center Director Michael Brennan said in a Monday storm briefing. It’s too soon to know the extent of the impacts Lee might have along the Northeast US and Atlantic Canada late this week and this weekend, the hurricane center said. Three people in New Jersey died in rip currents kicked up in the wake of Hurricane Franklin last week.

An area of high pressure over the Atlantic, known as the Bermuda High, will have a major influence on how quickly Lee turns. As the high pressure weakens this week, it will allow Lee to start moving northward. Lee could make a quick turn to the north early this week if high pressure weakens significantly. If the jet stream sets up along the East Coast, it will act as a barrier that prevents Lee from approaching the coast. This scenario would leave portions of the East Coast, mainly north of the Carolinas, vulnerable to a much closer approach from Lee.

Until, that is, a friend familiar with my travel-purse struggles surprised me with the gift of my new travel savior: the July “Carry Me” Bag. My small, handy purse helped me navigate a new-to-me place with ease, thanks to its clever construction. The Carry Me bag, available in seven different colors—I prefer the Clay hue—is no ordinary travel bag; I’ve had plenty of those. On hot days on my trips to both Turks & Caicos and Türkiye, being able to quickly open my bag and reach for my sunnies was essential. The Carry Me Bag also comes with a detachable, adjustable strap—an essential for my traveling purposes.

Shark attacks are more common in the US than in any other place in the world. But if you think shark attacks are only limited to remote and isolated islands, you'd be surprised to know that the US has seen more unprovoked shark attacks than any other country, by far, and many of these attacks happen near crowded beaches. Where the most shark attacks occur in the USSince the 16th century, 1,604 unprovoked shark attacks have been reported in the US, according to the International Shark Attack File. That's more than double the number of shark attacks in Australia, which holds the second-highest number of attacks at 691. "Shark attacks are rare and it is extremely rare for people to be eaten when they occur," Sorensen said.

I grew up watching YouTube beauty gurus go on brand trips, and now it's my job to do the same thing. I started creating beauty content for the free makeup, but I found a full-time career instead. While most believe the whole point of brand trips is to produce content, some companies invite us on trips with no strings attached. Hurricane Fiona intensified into a Category 4 storm Wednesday as it made a northern trek past Puerto Rico, where it unleashed catastrophic floods, and hit the Dominican Republic and Turks and Caicos with heavy rain. The storm, the first major one in the Atlantic Ocean this year, strengthened as it moved away from the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos. The National Hurricane Center said Fiona was approaching Bermuda Wednesday with winds close to 130 miles an hour. Forecasters said the storm would continue to strengthen over the next day before weakening possibly this weekend.
